Benefit for Mumia Abu-Jamal

Monday April 21st 2014: Benefit for Mumia Abu-Jamal, Volkseten Vegazulu, 7pm.

Mumia Abu-Jamal will get 60 years this year. Therefore we will internationaly, celebrate his birthday in front of the US consulate on Thursday 24 april, from 16.00 till 18.00 to demand his freedom, after spending 32 years innocent in jail.
Mumia Abu Jamal is an african-american reporter and political activist. They called him, the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’, as he reported about racism and police brutality in the USA. So the local authoreties didn’t really liked him.
Once having been a victim of police racism, he joined the Black Panther Party. In the 70ts he became a reporter and reported about the state terror against the radical, black organisation MOVE. When he spoke about the brutal violence by the police against MOVE headquarters, he lost his job and became a taxi driver.
In 1981 Mumia got involved in a shooting, which resulted in one dead white policeman and Mumia badly injured, but Mumia survived. The very conservative judge Sabo gave him the death penalty for the so called murder on this white policeman. His trial was a ‘joke’, full off lies, intimidation, corruption, violence and racism.
In Pennsylvania he spent 30 years innocent on death row. Since then, worldwide protests and campaigns were held to ask for his release. Mumia wants a new and FAIR trial and is supported by Amnesty International, Desmond Tutu, European parliament and many, many others.
Beginning December 2011, the state announced no longer to execute Mumia (because of the worldwide campaign…..). The execution has changed into LIFE SENTENCE! life sentence without parole! NO to the ‘slow death penalty’…let’s bring Mumia home!

On this right moment we are working to raise money for a new trial, where his innocence has to be proved. THIS IS POSSIBLE! Let’s all help Mumia. Write him, sign the petition, cause now, more then ever he needs our help.
