While a certain big fish enjoys living in the center of London, one of his houses in Amsterdam, left alone for 11 years, was squatted in March of this year. Sadly, the big fish does not want to pay the electricity bill and the little fish with little money are left with a big bill to pay.

What is Lenna? Lenna is not just our squat dog. Lenna is also a building on Oetewalerstraat 8, liberated from supposedly “non profit” social housing organization Ymere. Almost two years passed since the last residents have been forced to relocate and this former social housing has been left to rot waiting for the new landlords privatization. Oetewalerstraat 18, also from Ymere, used to be squatted for more than 10 years.
So continuing a long tradition of reclaiming social housing around the neighborhood and Oetewalerstraat itself, Oetewalerstraat 8 has been squatted by a friendly active group almost two months ago. However, we are already engaged in legal conversations and we are succeeding in it!!! At least until we can pay our lawyer…

Thursday 9th February 2023, Benefit for OccupyUvA. Food served from 7pm, no reservation.
On January 16th 2023, the Amsterdamse Academische Club, building from the UvA (University of Amsterdam) on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal 235, was occupied by a wide coalition of different (student) groups, among them Autonomous Student Struggle (ASS), Decolonization club, Students for Justice in Palestine, Activisten Partij UvA, University Rebellion, Mokum Kraakt, End Fossil Occupy NL, and Rood Amsterdam. Their main demands: UvA cuts ties with Shell, UvA reveals all ties with the fossil fuel industry. Autonomous Spaces for students and staff for discussion and education on Decolonization, Decarbonization and Democratization. The same evening, riot police evicted the Amsterdamse Academische Club and arrested 28 people. Those arrested inside are accused of breaking domestic peace. For such an occupation and future actions, some costs were made. Donations will go towards these costs.
