Monday August 12th 2013, Genova 2001 is not over – Benefit Voku for the activists convicted after the G8 protests, Volkseten Vegazulu, 7pm. In July 2012, 11 years after the protests against the G8 summit in Genoa, 10 people have been convicted for taking part in the demonstrations, the sentences vary from 6-14 years. The law that allowed this insane sentence is named “Devastation and Looting”: this law was included in the Italian Penal Code in 1935, to protect the so called “public order” under the fascist regime. In the last decade this law has been used multiple times to convict political activists. [Read more]

Autoclave II is a second edition of a festival of body modifications (piercing, suspension or tattoo) that will take place in the Autonomous space Les Tanneries in Dijon from 12th to 14th September. Leah Song (USA), solo performance by Leah Smith from Rising Appalachia. “Rising Appalachia is a genre-bending force of sound that uses vocal harmony, lyrical prowess and diverse artistic collaborations to defy cultural clichés and ignite a musical revolution… Shireen (NL), ‘I call the type of songs I play ‘Crisis-Folk’. A combination of words made up to describe the traditional folksongs me and longtime friend and fellow musician Dorien Meijsing sang and played in our ukulele/vocal-harmony project ‘çok güzel’. Dangle Manatee (UK) is a two-piece folk-punk band from Durham and Newcastle, UK. Hugh plays guitar, harmonica and sings. Pippa plays fiddle, tambourine and sings. They both stamp their feet a lot. They write songs about poetry, animals, and trying to be kind in an unkind world. [Read more]
