BANGS is an autonomous theatre and performance festival taking place for the third time October 1-4, 2026. BANGS receives no funding, BANGS raises funds! This year, for Palestine and Lebanon.

20:00 Sesten Sese: A Curated Evening of Shared Voices

This evening brings together three musical practices connected through voice, community, and collective memory. Opening with the intimate songwriting of Anllel Maria and Doğa Ak, followed by the mother–child musical practice of Dilden Dile, and concluding with the collective polyphony of Queer Choir Amsterdam, the programme moves between queer community, Anatolian folk traditions, diasporic memory, couragous worlds and intergenerational exchange. Together, these performances invite audiences to experience singing as a living practice of gathering, listening, and carrying stories forward. Doğa and Allel Doğa Ak and Anllel Maria are a kuir duo of songwriters and singers from Turkey and Ecuador, currently based in the Netherlands. Amsterdam Bangs is an autonomous theater and performance festival that will take place for its third year in a row all over Amsterdam on 1-4 of October 2026. Bangs is non-hierarchically- and self-organised: anyone can propose a show, create a workshop or performance, wherever they want. The past editions of Bangs hosted drag shows, poetry readings, street interventions, a raging bingo, chickens escaping from Albert Heijn, etc. So keep your eyes out for what will happen this year!
The whole festival is one big benefit. Donation are collected after each show and sent to a social cause. For example, last year Bangs collected almost €6000 that was donated to a mutual aid fund in Palestine and a community project in Kashmir.

Monday July 20, 2026, Chaos kitchen is cooking up another delicious meal to raise funds for Amsterdam Bangs festival! Food served from 7pm, no reservation.

Amsterdam Bangs is an autonomous theater-and performance festival that will take place for its third year in a row all over Amsterdam from 1-4 of October 2026. Bangs is non-hierarchically and self-organised: anyone can propose their show, wherever they want, create any workshop or performance. This year it Bangs will have it’s third! The past editions Bangs hosted drag shows, poetry readings, street interventions, a raging bingo, chickens escaping an Albert Heijn, etc. So keep your eyes out for what will happen this year!

BANGS is kicking off with food and show!

Amsterdam BANGS is a politically charged joyride here to make you laugh, flinch, cry, think, enjoy, love and rage, rage, rage against the machine! All shows and food on donations. Donations will go to mutual aid funds in Palestine and Kashmir. Bring cash!

Food at 19h! Shows start at 20h.

Autonmous and Queer Drag Space

For the first time performing as a baby drag house, Quings is bringing a small queer drag show to Amsterdam to play with gender, queer love and crumble those constructs. Quings is a group of 6 diverse queer souls, taking their first steps in the world of drag and supporting each other through self-made intimate, political, self-exploring, angry and celebratory performances. We’re not in any way professionals and we have no intention to create a ‘perfect’ or shiny show. We’re here to break free from norms/expectations/binaries and we challenge&empower ourselves by taking these topics to the stage. If you want to join us shedding those shackles, we’re happy to create a safe(r) and powerful space together.

Baker’s Bingo Rage

Kirsty Baker loves a good game but her struggle to express the rage that has built up inside her urgently needs resolving. Prepare to take part in a tragicomic performance where Kirsty Baker might radically stray away from her role as a game host. Will there be a BINGO RAGE prize? You’d better come and find out.

BANGS is a banging theatre and performance festival, organised by anarchists, artists, and activists, to take over not just traditional venues, not just the squats, not just the streets, not just your local Albert Heijn, not just your ING help desk, but even your own home. BANGS is non-hierarchical and self-organised: anyone can propose their show, wherever they want, create any workshop or performance, so long as it’s non-commercial, respects BANGS’ values, and is just BANGING.
Stages are kept behind gates, giving space to the same old voices. Cultural funds are cut off, free and artistic spaces closed down, and inhabitants pulled away from the artists living in the same city. We want Amsterdam to be a broad stage and hear the voices of many! We wish for soft, loud, ludicrous, experimental performance art and activism to take over the city and shake it up! Let the city become our playground.
This year in September, BANGS will have its second edition, which will take place from 19th–22nd September 2025. If you want to know more, check out our website. Our Open Call will be out soon, so if you feel like organising something, let us know!
By coming to eat at Joe’s Garage and enjoying some delicious food in lovely company, you are helping this festival come to life. The donation money will be used to cover printing costs.

Get ready for a BANGING theatre and performance festival, organised by anarchists, artists, and activists, to take over not just traditional venues, not just the squats, not just the streets, not just your local Albert Heijn, not just your ING help desk but even your own home. BANGS is non-hierarchically and self-organised, anyone can propose their show, workshop, or performance, so long as it’s non-commercial and BANGING. We wish for BANGS to invite new breath for political movements standing for alternative/radical social and ecological justice struggles (queer-trans-feminist, anarchist, squatting movement, anti-fascist, anti-colonial, anti-racist, anti-capitalist….), as well as opening up Amsterdam to any kind of (experimental and radical) performative arts, taking place freely and collaboratively all around the city. The city is ours! Put on your most flamboyant fashions, clown couture, and celebrate the spells of wicked witchcraft in this time of carnival!
