Friends in Need Fund benefit

Thursday March 20th 2014, Friends in Need Fund benefit, Volkseten Vegazulu, 7pm.

Friendship solidarity in practise: a low profile fund to support friends in need. Need because they have to pay a lot of money for their Dutch citizenship. Need because they are in a shitty situation and medical costs are rising. Need because they’ve had a really tough time and you want to give them a small gesture of support. There is so many ways our friends can be in need..! This is still being set up and not yet in function – but the general idea is that friends can apply for a friend in need – the Friends in Need Fund will contribute a share to collections that these friends are organizing. For useful things and urgent situations, of course. […Lees verder]

Since the location of Theaterstraat was burned in a fire, they can use all the support they can get. So come, have a nice meal and support Theaterstraat. During the blaze at “De Heining”, in the west-harbor area of Amsterdam, on December 2nd, the warehouse of TheaterStraat burned down to the ground. TheaterStraat is well-known for their support during demonstrations and events with their iconic yellow-red stage truck, but also provides transportation with their coaches, logistical support and loads more. The trucks and coaches are saved, but all the rest is gone (sound equipment, stage lighting, mixing desks, the tents, containers, tools, the ware-house, the office and so on and so forth…) […Lees verder]

Calais Migrant Solidarity benefit, Call for international solidarity and action, info night about the situation in Calais

Monday February 10th 2014, Calais Migrant Solidarity benefit, Call for international solidarity and action, info night about the situation in Calais, Volkseten Vegazulu, 7pm.

In Calais, hundreds of migrants are facing a collective punishment, a daily harassment and humiliation from the French state. They are regularly counted, photographed, id checked or taken away to the foreign police and detention centres. Riot and border police are constantly patrolling a city in decay. One building on ten would be empty. The racist Calais mayor has been inciting fear amongst the local population and launched an appeal asking residents to inform on migrant shelters and activists. Cops evicted almost every single squatted building. Tensions run high when refugees have nowhere to sleep except in park bushes, under bridges or in overcrowded squats that are constantly under threat. Migrants are living off one meal a day and are carrying everything they own, while spending days and nights at the hands of cops who chase them around the city and mafia who exploit and steal everything they have.
