Burkina-FasoThis is an invitation for the premiere of the documentary “Revolution with Bare Hands” about the resistance of the Burkinian people at the 30th and 31st October 2014 in Burkina Faso which has let to the demise of the dictatorial regime of Blaise Compaoré, who had been in power for almost 30 years and had participated in the assault of president Thomas Sankara.
We hear the voices of the women, men, youth who were involved in the upraising and who have decided not to use weapons but to resist against the dictatorial and militarist regime using creative non-violent actions.
They also talk about their hopes and expectations for a future society. Their views are supplemented with the perceptions of the Burkinian diaspora in Austria and artists who search for a universally understandable forms of expression to foster emancipation.

All Included Amsterdam is a new initiative that fights for freedom of movement and for the right of residence for migrants. In a time when globalization is a fact, migration should be recognized as part of a package deal. It’s All Included. This means: no illegality, no detention for undocumented migrants and no forced evictions.
With the disappearance of national borders, national identity disappears. Everyone becomes global citizen and deserves regardless of origin equal rights and equal opportunities. Therefore also for migrants ‘all included’ rights and obligations.
Allincluded.nl fightsg for an open society through extra-parliamentary action which intervenes in the political climate of assimilation, closeness and fear. Through direct assistance to rejected asylum seekers and other migrants without residence permit, indictments against abuses of current polities are being propagated. We want to contribute to the public debate with alternative visions of migration and globalization based on open borders, solidarity and initiative from the base.

Concert with X-Ray Cat Trio and Zealous Doxy

X_Ray_Cat_TrioMonday November 9th 2015, Concert with X-Ray Cat Trio (surf veterans from Leeds) and Zealous Doxy (duo voice, banjo from Leeds) . Volkseten Vegazulu, 7pm. Music from 9pm till 10pm!

If your looking for dark, raw and tough rock ‘n’ roll the X-Ray Cat Trio are a band you should check out. This surf based band out of Leeds has been delivering the goods since 2009 and are more that just surf outfit. These kats mix rockabilly, psychobilly, Link Wray, punk and more into a cool brew that’s hard to resist. They released the pretty good ep “Bloody Deeds” back in 2014 and managed to gain some international attention. Now in 2015 they about to unleash their full debut album “Out For Blood’. This puppy comes in with attitude that snarls hard with 13 tracks that for the most part, pack a punch. We get only 2 tracks with vocals (both are pretty good) and the rest of the tracks are instrumentals. The band also throws in some killer saxophone on a few tracks and has been messing around with brass, Theremins and other weird stuff. http://xraycattrio.bandcamp.com/

Zealous Doxy from Leeds, two lasses singing sweet, sombre, ruckus harmonies with a banjo. They had surprised us in the bluebell woods, acting as the Woodstock hippie chicks, now they have jumped in the punk van to join the X-Ray Cat Trio tour across Holland and Germany. How much damage can you do with a banjo and a voice? The stunning, soaring roar of Sami Graystone on ‘Finistere’ is frankly captivating, whilst Rose Love provides a virtuoso lesson on the banjo. The raw, acid psych folkery of Zealous Doxy is utterly beguiling and their début self-titled EP – seek out ‘Katie Cruel’ and ‘Doxy’ alongside the aforesaid – should be grabbed before they become as rare as a month of Sundays. http://zealousdoxy.bandcamp.com/ […Lees verder]

Thursday November 5th 2015, Benefit for an Iraqi organisation. Volkseten Vegazulu, 7pm.

We are a team from Dutch students and Iraqi women. We organize a nice good meal with vegan Iraqi food. The money that you spend on your meal will go to the Iraqi community in Amsterdam. This is a place where migrants from Iraq, living in Amsterdam, can come to meet each other. Our aim is to give support and to avoid loneliness among these specific group of migrants. With the money we make we’ll organize a nice day with special activities that most of the Iraqi people themselves can’t afford since they don’t have a very high income. Most off all we hope you have a pleasant night and that you’ll enjoy the food!

Volkseten Vegazulu is a people’s kitchen, every monday, 7pm, vegan food for 4€ or donation. All benefits go for social & political struggles. No reservation. From September, the people’s kitchen is also open on thursday.

Concert with The Flamenco Thief

Monday November 2nd 2015, Concert: The Flamenco Thief. Volkseten Vegazulu, 7pm. Music from 9pm till 10pm.

Craig Sutton, better known as The Flamenco Thief, is an English guitarist whose phenomenal rise within the DIY music scene has seen him become one of the busiest touring artists in the country. Specializing in fast rhythmic guitar playing Craig has earned a reputation for mesmerising live performances, in which he uses a Spanish acoustic guitar with the Boss RC loop pedal to blend modern rhythms with time-honoured Flamenco techniques. A particularly resourceful musician, Craig also utilizes the guitar as a percussive instrument, layering metronomic hip-hop beats by carefully beating the body; creating a unique energy that few solo instrumentalists manage to achieve. Craig’s early influences of ska, hip-hop and gypsy swing are evident throughout his music, helping him craft a catalogue of songs that are intelligent but accessible. Craig’s compositions revere Flamenco’s heritage while embracing music technology, and as a result each song is delicately poised between the classical and contemporary. His eponymous debut six-track EP was released in the UK in 2011. The album, Liberating Parts of the Cosmos, was released in 2013 and supported by a three month European tour, spanning 17 countries. In 2014 The Flamenco Thief is back on the road strengthening his status as one of the hardest working musicians in the business with the goal of performing 250 concerts across 40 countries in just ten months.
