Tonight we open our doors to invite you to spend your money on fabulous fashion, amazing artworks.
After more then 21 years of housing not only Joe’s and their Garage but also being the home of many different people over the same period, the building that has given us so much is now requesting some work and love in return. We are collecting money to continue the work we started last year,

There are two squatted houses on Schagerlaan owned by Eigen Haard near by Amstel station where high towers keep mushrooming out of the ground. The first Schagerlaan squat was open in October 2025, the second one a month later.

Volkseten Vegazulu is a people’s kitchens existing since the very beginning of Joe’s Garage, June 2005. Your donations are welcome. Food is vegan, no reservation. All benefits go to social & political struggles. Joe’s Garage is a space run by volunteers. Without a collective effort, without your active participation, we’re remaining closed. Get in touch in you feel like giving a hand. We’re always looking for cooks. Any help is welcome in the kitchen. Experience not required. If you want to know which days are still available, mail us.

Benefit for much needed renovations of PS43, the home that houses Joe’s garage. Pretoriusstraat 43, home of Joe’s Garage on the ground floor, an house of many people over the past 20 years on the floors above. The building was squatted over 20 years ago, and was transformed from empty neglected dump into the beautiful living space that is now one of the oldest squats in the city… and this is beginning to show… The building is old and in need of maintenance. Last year we started repairing windows and window frames, and will continue these works and more sometime this spring. Do you want to help? KGD vs KGB, benefit voku for KGD legal costs

KGD (Kraken Gaat Door), is the name of a squat on Honthorststraat 42. The house is owned by the Russian Federation.
On 30 March 1981, the upper floors from Honthorststraat 42 were squatted for a first time during the National Squatting Day. In these Cold War years, the Soviet Union had set their Intourist travel agency on the ground floor of the house. Squatters took the empty upper floors and called their squat De Rooie Hont. Polak, the mayor at the time, sent the riot police to evict the squatters on 3 April 1981. These events are reported in this article and a few pictures can be found here.
Later, the ground floor from Honthorststraat 42 was also squatted and evicted in February 2008.
Honthorststraat 42, this time the whole house, was resquatted beginning of november 2023. Since a few months, the squatters are in a legal battle against the Russian Federation.
